In Praise of Homeschool Moms

Teaching is tough. No one knows this better than homeschool moms. Homeschool moms perform the duties of several full-time teachers, a referee, a diplomat, a chef, a maid, and a guidance counselor all at the same time. They constantly juggle the many responsibilities of homeschooling and family life.

As a homeschool mom and consultant, I visit with homeschool moms often. As we share stories and thoughts, I often see them interact with their children.

Some incredibly special qualities stand out in my mind as I think about all those homeschool moms. They have an incredible superpower that allows them to see their kids’ needs as well as their strengths and interests. They try their best to help their kids in any way they can. Homeschool moms are always learning as they pursue various avenues to help their kids learn and thrive.

Homeschool mom, always remember that God wove your family together and that He designed your family tapestry with intent. He knew each day of your future even as he created your child. Never doubt God’s planned-out journey of the learning he knew would happen because of your roles in each other’s lives.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: (Proverbs 31: 25-28 NIV)

Homeschool mom, your loving efforts do not go unnoticed. God is proud of all your efforts that you pour into your children and your family life. I can’t praise you enough for your loving efforts and professional services.
